How the calculation works

This page is for early planning when you know the packed weight and CBM but do not yet have a forwarder quote. It intentionally returns a range instead of one exact number.

First, the calculator estimates chargeable weight using the standard air freight density threshold:

volumetric weight kg = total CBM x 166.7
chargeable weight kg = max(actual gross weight kg, volumetric weight kg)

Then it applies a route and service-level rate band:

estimate range = chargeable weight kg x rate range + local charges + planning buffer
