China Multi-Supplier FBA Freight Quote Checklist

Article author: Helenpeng, CEO of Honourocean Shipping Co., Ltd., working in logistics since 2009. About CargoMath · Honourocean

Short answer: Give one carton-level packing sheet per supplier, each pickup location and ready date, the product and handling declarations, the intended consolidation workflow, the destination market and delivery model, and the current Send to Amazon shipment-plan details when available; ask the forwarder to price a clearly defined scope rather than treating an unconfirmed fulfillment-center address as final.

This is for a seller whose inventory is collected from two or more China suppliers before entering an Amazon fulfillment network. The buyer decision is not merely air versus ocean: it is whether to collect separately, consolidate and relabel at a warehouse, or keep shipments separate until the Seller Central plan and packed cartons are confirmed. Aggregate demand ranked quote requests first (3,208 chats) and supplier pickup third (1,080) in the privacy-validated snapshot generated September 20, 2026; those counts are topic signals, not individual customer stories.

When this checklist fits—and when it does not

Use it before asking for a comparable freight quotation when several factories or trading companies supply one FBA replenishment. It is especially useful if the goods must be received, counted, combined, checked or relabeled at a China warehouse before export.

Do not use it as an Amazon shipment plan, a customs classification decision, or a guarantee that one final fulfillment-center destination will accept every carton. Seller Central and the appointed carrier remain the operational sources for the actual inbound plan and delivery instructions.

Collect a separate packed-cargo record from each supplier

A purchase-order total is not a transport measurement. Ask each supplier for its own final or estimated carton count, outer dimensions, gross weight, SKU-to-carton mapping, commodity description, declared value and earliest pickup date. Mark estimates explicitly and request revised figures after final packing.

Keep supplier identifiers and carton marks consistent so the receiving warehouse can match cartons to the expected purchase order without mixing inventory. Share business shipment data only through an appropriate quote channel; do not put private contact or address details into a public calculator.

  • Pickup city or agreed handover point for each supplier; exact private address only in the quote workflow
  • Carton count, dimensions and gross weight by carton type, not only unit dimensions
  • SKU, quantity, barcode/label status and any prep still required
  • Battery, liquid, powder, magnet, chemical, wood-packaging or other special features declared before collection

Define what the consolidation warehouse must actually do

“Consolidation included” is too vague to compare. State whether the warehouse merely receives and holds cartons, verifies carton counts and marks, sorts by SKU, photographs external condition, repacks, pallets, applies seller-supplied labels, or prepares separate outbound lots. Product inspection and testing are distinct services and should not be inferred from receiving checks.

Ask for the receiving cutoff, missing-carton exception process, storage basis, packing-change approval and who signs off the final carton-level sheet. A repack or pallet can change measured volume and chargeable weight, so the final freight basis should be confirmed after that work.

Separate the freight quote from the Amazon inbound plan

For a planning quote, identify the Amazon marketplace, intended receiving model (direct FBA, prep center or another warehouse), likely delivery region and whether the shipment will be parcel or palletized freight. If Seller Central has already assigned shipment destinations, provide the current plan and box-level mapping to the forwarder through the private quote workflow. If not, ask for a conditional quote with destination and appointment assumptions stated.

Amazon’s Send to Amazon guidance describes box content, box weight and dimensions, prep and labeling details, shipment labels, and carrier/pallet information for applicable workflows. Current Seller Central instructions for the specific account and destination must be checked before booking; a forwarder’s preliminary quote cannot create or override the Amazon plan.

Make the quotation scope comparable

Request separate lines or an explicit included/excluded list for supplier collections, warehouse receiving and work, export handling, main transport, destination clearance, duties and taxes where applicable, final delivery, and any appointment or pallet work. State the Incoterm and named place for each supplier purchase; do not assume all suppliers use the same handover point.

Compare one consolidated shipment with separate supplier shipments only after the same packed measurements, delivery model, customs responsibility and service scope are used. Consolidation can reduce duplicated movements, but extra collection, storage, repacking and handling can offset that benefit; no savings or transit time should be promised without a live quotation.

  • Quote validity and the measurements used for pricing
  • Charges that will be repriced after final packing or Amazon destination allocation
  • Who is importer of record and who handles duty, tax and entry decisions
  • Whether delivery means a port, prep center, or the Amazon-assigned destination

A practical sequence before booking

First, collect supplier-level carton records and compute packed volume with the CBM calculator. Second, confirm the warehouse receiving and prep scope. Third, request conditional transport options using the same delivery and responsibility assumptions. Fourth, finalize the Amazon shipment plan and labels in Seller Central, then reconcile its box mapping with the warehouse’s actual cartons. Fifth, request a revised bookable quote if the final packing, route or destinations differ.

Use the existing freight quote input checker for the general route, cargo, Incoterm and timing fields. This page adds the multi-supplier-to-FBA handoff; it does not replace the broader quote checklist or the FBA shipping cost calculator.

Evidence and verification notes (checked September 22, 2026)

Amazon’s official Send to Amazon explanation supports the distinction between box-content records, labels, and carrier/pallet steps: https://sell.amazon.com/blog/send-to-amazon-shipment-creation . Amazon’s FBA prep guide describes packaging and labeling as separate requirements: https://sell.amazon.com/blog/fba-packaging-prep-labeling . Verify the account-specific current workflow in Seller Central before shipment creation.

The prioritization signal is the anonymous aggregate snapshot at data/whatsapp-demand.json, generated September 20, 2026. It supports topic order only. It does not establish a customer example, rate, transit time, Amazon eligibility, customs treatment or warehouse capability.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request a quote before Amazon assigns fulfillment centers?

Yes, as a conditional planning quote. State the destination region and delivery assumption, then recheck the rate and route after the Seller Central shipment plan is final.

Should I combine all suppliers into one packing list?

Keep supplier-level carton records first. A warehouse can produce a final consolidated outbound list after it receives and verifies the actual cartons.

Does receiving count as product inspection?

No. Carton count, external-condition photos, SKU sorting and product-level inspection are different scopes; specify which you are buying.

What if a supplier changes carton dimensions?

Mark earlier figures as estimates and update the packed measurements before booking. Repacking or palletization can change the chargeable basis.

Who creates FBA labels and the shipment plan?

The seller controls the current Seller Central workflow and can authorize a service provider to apply supplied labels. Confirm responsibility and approval before work starts.

Is a DDP quote automatically suitable for FBA?

No. Confirm the importer and tax responsibility, destination delivery scope and current Amazon inbound instructions separately; the Incoterm alone does not settle those details.

Should I quote air and ocean using the same carton sheet?

Yes, use the same packed-cargo baseline for a fair comparison, while allowing each mode’s chargeable-weight and service assumptions to differ explicitly.

What public evidence can prove

  • Whether the quote request has supplier-level packed cargo and collection inputs.
  • Whether warehouse scope and FBA delivery assumptions are explicit enough to compare proposals.
  • That Amazon’s public Send to Amazon workflow asks for box and shipping details, subject to the account-specific current instructions.

What it cannot prove

  • That Amazon will assign one particular fulfillment center or accept a shipment.
  • That consolidation is cheaper or faster than separate shipments.
  • That a commodity is customs-compliant or accepted by a carrier.

Unresolved checks

  • Final carton and pallet measurements after warehouse work
  • Current Seller Central destination, labels, carrier and delivery instructions
  • Importer, classification, product restrictions and documentary requirements
  • Live carrier space, scope, rate validity and pickup access

Next actions

  • Identify missing cargo, route, timing and responsibility fields.
  • Use each supplier’s outer-carton measurements before consolidation.
  • Send private shipment details, the warehouse work scope and current FBA plan assumptions.

Limitations

  • This checklist is planning guidance, not Amazon Seller Central, customs, legal or dangerous-goods advice.
  • Public Amazon guides may not show every marketplace or account-specific requirement; confirm the live workflow before booking.
  • No rate, savings, transit time or fulfillment-center assignment is estimated here.
